swirl it round and round

I swirled around your words
sometimes wisdom
many a times trivia
neither a lethal moment

my tears turned to laughter
or vice versa
so much emotions hinged
in the in-between silences

morning turned to nights
nights into dawn
exchange of mind did not end
as it could not identify time

I know, it is not true when they say,
it's only words.
and words are all I have,
as you see me beyond that

we might not exchange a single word
for weeks to come,
yet the silence will make us
gravitate towards each other

"friendship is too mild a word for what we share,
the day I lose you, I will need to call it that"

confessing ochre is never far away

that slow descent was my undoing
I held your hand
my fingers embracing yours
in the orange haze of my mind
nothing was more beautiful

my spectacles slipped to the ground
crushed under our combined emotions
life's journey lost its meaning
in the ochre sidelines

I despaired to get closer
and closer and closer
that smile was my nemesis
I got lost in the golden light

sold to you, I hoped
to be etched into you
to be crushed in that mind
disintegration of self was so welcome

sounds of hues of orange
still speak to me
even when I am searching for you
essentially to find you by my side

"you never ever disappear
yet I fear, yet I fear
I might clear out
as my mind rests on the fence"

opposites

hidden by the fog
I walked blindly
chasing the road as if in a blind alley
sounds of chilly wind chased me
silence of my chilled heart propelled me
I stumbled in the cobbled path
fell down on my knees,
compelled to kiss the frosted earth

when I reached home
I didn't see the light at first
but seeing you sleeping so peacefully
I jumped on our bed
kissed the roof with glee
cool surface drove away my guilt
innocence of your love merged into me

"when you wake up
I will make up
until then I am going to figure out
how to stand upside down"

escape

under that tree I kept it hidden
the sheen of your sweat
which had flowed for me in desire.
who dug it out,
along with my sensuality
which I had  packed inside a bubble?
the air evokes you for me,
moving in a lumber way-
now it blows too fast
leaving a wreck behind.

"I will again create a bridge and reach out for you"

Writing another keepsake poem was tough. I don't think I succeeded. Thanks We Write Poem for using my prompt for this week

misty fog

River, Marina Moevs, 2005
I walk in the misty fog
the dust under my feet speaks to me
a tale of mirrored magic
hidden in the mystical fog

pebbles pave the way
branches kiss the sky
bending to the will of the earth
I pick the dust caress it carefully

smiling at its tale
I box it under a tree
the leaves hide me from the magic
in the opaque angles of light

I raise my head
feel an auspicious sign
look up to the sky
see it lined with gold

"I search for solid mass, but find vacuumed dreams"

locked in the closet

I pondered over the decree
for the angel to bring gold tidings
shepherds watched over that silence
I endured it in joyless peace
my heart was like a manger
I was afraid to let it go
but in my haste
I locked it in the closet
what of it, one might ask?
festive days,
do those help in renewal?
I say, no way.
those come and go

"I am left with vacuum of thoughts"

citizen of dreamland

I circled the purple
a game I played
as luck would have it
I had no trouble winning
my dream allow me to be flexible
I become a citizen of one the states of dreamland
far beyond earth, earth year
I don't lag behind
as I now fly wingless
no friction to curtail me

"happenstance?"

diasporic flavor

there was so much whispering
in the mist of that vast gathering

a lonely garden chair, under that oak
had so many people flock there

a membrane of fleeting nostalgia
so heavy that I needed a crane

such aura of colors
mixed with diasporic flavor

a lone voice from the past
created noise silently

I stretched a limb or two
you took a dim view

"when ennui sets in,
why don't I get all dewy?"

metamorphosis

“honestly . . .”
beginning of many
warped sentences:
partial reality that coat
enunciations

so when we look
into his flat words,

we try to see something
multi-dimensional
in the eyes of the speaker,
to give us some inkling
about his ever-changing stance…..

perhaps our efforts
are wasted;

yet we have to do it
for our own insight
into his twisted mind,
to get an inkling
of lurking evil

"why am I thinking of that two faced individual?"

falling apart

when the sole of my shoe fell apart
I twisted my ankle
my knees gave away
I fell on the ground
my shin bone hurt
my elbows balanced my body
my cheeks pressed to the ground
I give away to tears
why when everything was going good
my shoe fell apart
taking me down
(serves me right)
I will not hitch a ride
I will muster my strength
from the wine I drank
in the late afternoon

"I want to call out, where are you
but who cares?
I will sleep hugging the earth"

a captured momemt

you walk out in a huff
your plate of food unfinished
I run to the door to call you back
but you are nowhere to be seen
feeling sad and vulnerable
I walk back inside the house
and sit at the window
with a blurred vision
my thoughts in a turmoil
I wipe my tears, look out,
see you talking on your cellphone

you sit inclined on a concrete sidewalk
your head bobbing up and down
I curse the person at the other end
you pocket your cellphone,
sit there with a calmness that jars me

"is it my figment that I see the delivery boy
delivering a pizza to you, and you open it
close it again, and walk towards our home?"

a cross

Rage by AnnaMariaDeMari at deviantART
don't look into my insomniac eyes-
seemingly so,
(I sleep like a log)
that cross on my forehead-
a mark I acquired
when I fell down from the stars
but what of it?
I look like a fallen angel
with my gelled hair,
and unblinking stare
that air of haughtiness
you could never fathom my indomitable spirit
(just a fact I state)

"when I walk on the earth again,
I find bliss in my obscure state"

stolen moments

I lost it-
a goose bump to you
a whole universe for me
you hid it in the closet
along with few of my breaths
which I have saved from you
I wonder how you found my hiding place
where I have hoarded massive stuff
the moments I stole from you
that scar which bothered you
I have braided our intermingled breath
in the knob on the closet door
how did you find my hiding place
now yours too
yet I know too well
you will never find anything that I hid there
that coin wrapped in with your scent is all I have of you
not to forget the togetherness we had shared
in the floor by the fireside
I prefer those to be well hidden
from your prying self

"nailing that closet was never so tough"

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I wrote a poem out of nothing and everything. We hoard keepsakes of material things apart from our memories. And I tried to create a poem from that memory, keeping out material things. Anyone else who does this, I would love to read it. I offer it as a prompt for We Write Poems...
no song, this is?!
Away to the Sky by beloavaan at deviantART
with a muddled brain
I jumped from the roof
(gravity worked strange)
I landed on top of a cloud
when a giant bird pushed me again
I found some balloons
I stilled my heart, bent my ears
became a blind bird
no one wrote a song for me
or spoke about me
I now move over castles
waiting for a free fall
'when I kick you with my weightless feet,
all will know you killed me'
while the instrument plays
The Snake Charmer, Henri Rousseau, 1907
I yearn for an opal ring
with a verve
I want to strengthen my bonds
with that snake charmer
I fake a yawn
while my heart races
he rubs his fingertips on his instrument
while I pick the threads
in the mirror of snake eyes
his muse has raw edge
in the corridors of betrayal
he offers sheep to the snakes
"I find omen in that dull opal ring,
thrust that dagger deep into him"
hitching a ride in rusted trails
abandoned to erode
that wheel has tales to tell
I don't care to know
I think of all that I lost in snow
hazed snow of the mind
layered by layered
light is my focal point
stirring from dawn to dusk
resting in the darkness
to rejuvenate the heart
when I pick a rusted nail
I sandpaper it
observe the rust fall to ground
I still don't care.
"Can I hitch a ride from you to go to the next town?"
red of life retreats in a cart
he drags his feet
hiding his face
that red umbrella gives him cover
(the red bag is a dead giveaway)
grilled door barred his entry
he had to retreat
lonely as a finger
(his mumbles unheard by anyone)
his stance, no one recognized
so unbecoming
yet a part of him
(nothing can penetrate his psyche now)
he walks on in the rain
dark clouds thunder over him
his profile blurred now
(his kindness muddy under his feet)
"if only he had held on to the wheels
the cart wouldn't have been abandoned"
It has been more than 10 days since I wrote anything. My words were clogged and refused to come out. Today they did, and let me hope, they are out for good. I am not pleased with the above poem but happy that I wrote something...
unbrushed
on a monday morning,
I see that girl rushing out
and watch her slip on the sidewalk
and a boy catch her slowly
or maybe I see it in slow motion
I too slip, and the paint splashes
on the walls, falling on ground
I had picked the rollers
out of the garbage,
to roll on the bare walls
to cover the evidence
of our raw tactility
to give it a semblance
"now watching the boy and the girl, I want it all open"
ashes of radiating electrons
my dreams are not for display
you can't see them
you don't want to see them
you only help in creating
myriads of nightmares
I let both merge
and photograph the images
drenched in reminiscences of you
when you will hear voices
I will be immune to that
my body will rise beyond it
I will stay awake all night,
night after night,
while you edit me from your life
with your paring knife
let me collect the ashes of radiating electrons
and build a shrine from those
hibernation revisited
I want to hibernate for eternity
but the earth's gravity
sings a teasing ditty
I want to hibernate for eternity
but life's nitty-gritty
spares no pity
I want to hibernate for eternity
but this piercing city
offers a diversity
I want to hibernate for eternity
but the bear, who appears to be smutty
sings me a ditty
I want to hibernate for eternity
dose or medicinal quantity
make me feel bitty
"I quit being a minute entity"
