cut a lemon into half


you stuck that fork into a lemon
I can't look at it now
you made the sourness disappear
I don't have affinity for bitterness
what do you carry in your satchel
you fidget when I ask for it
I will not mention it again
if you share that glass with me

"whose blood came out of lemon,
or is it only reddened tears?"

    Gautami, I did not see this one coming out of those prompt words. The image alone was startling enough, but the idea of the bleeding lemon (heart), the bitterness as physical and spiritual... great! So glad you took on this prompt.
