opening my notebook,
I sat down with a few pencils
(I hate writing with pens)
all those grandeur ideas
encircling until then
ran away from me
into the spooky night
(what else can one call it
when winds keep howling?)
I could hear them
whispering to each other
that I was a sham
my words were stolen
coming from far and wide
I ought to confess it here
to all and sundry
that I swapped ideas
with ghosts of the nether world
so much for tactile spirits
"if it served the purpose
why waste space, speculating?"
This made me smile ...
ReplyDelete"if it served the purpose
why waste space, speculating?"Very profound ... indeed, but some speculation makes for good poetry.
Ingenious idea I must confess!
ReplyDeleteHow come ya wanna kill word verifaction yet we have it here?
ReplyDeleteVery clever - even though I'm addicted to speculation.
ReplyDeleteThis made me smile.
ReplyDeleteNicely, I draw all over my notebeek, until a poem comes out, and sometimes there's another one hidden between the lines.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed this humorous piece.
ReplyDeleteThan You.
"I could hear them
ReplyDeletewhispering to each other
that I was a sham
my words were stolen
coming from far and wide"
That hit me where I live. So often when I start to write there is a little voice that says that everything good has already been said better by someone else - I always have to tell it to just SHUT UP. Do others feel that way? Your poem makes me think maybe they do!
I enjoyed this confession!
ReplyDeletethose winds at night certainly are spooky!
ReplyDeleteWriting in the dark...I just adore this ;)
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about the wind which blow and pencils have always been my choice of instrument when it comes to putting words together on paper while hoping some will make a bit of sense.
ReplyDeleteA stormy night is best for writing, so too are pencils. Nice poem, Gautami
ReplyDeleteOh, the spooky night that swirls and draws the words away - great image!
ReplyDeleteActually, this poem made me smile. Wonderful. :-)
ReplyDeleteI love the bit about hating to write with pens. I really connected to that; it brought back some fond memories.
ReplyDeleteHi Gautami, I never write with penicils. Pens and the computer, yes. And you gotta watch those ghosts of the nether world, they aren't always truthful or good. :-)
ReplyDelete..
Pencils with those little rubber things in the end. Perfect writing instuments.
ReplyDeleteSwapping ideas with ghosts! I like the idea of that. An intriguing piece.
ReplyDeleteI hate pens too but love your confession :)
ReplyDeleteGood poem Gataumi, you are v. clever.I understand the "swapping ideas with ghosts" bit too.
ReplyDeleteTami, this is so clever. It made me smile. Thank you.
ReplyDeletelove,Melanie-bd
hey, I too prefer pencils..Spooky post ;) keep writing
ReplyDeletei haven't written with a pencil for ages.... maybe that's whats wrong with me.......
ReplyDeleteNo shame in this Gautami. All language is passed down. We all must plagiarize to some extent! It's always how you funnel them into your own stream of consciousness. And you do it so well!
ReplyDeletegreat use of both prompts!
ReplyDeleteyour typicl dark humour shines again
ReplyDeleteThis was really nice, enjoyable :)
ReplyDeletenice one...like that spooky image in here....surely is a nice time to write something.
ReplyDeletesee, your words were stolen...from the nether world...your fans have long suspected it.
ReplyDeleteLovely!!
