voice of reason--One Single Impression

what use is God,
if injustice to humanity still persists?
divine justice
don't give me that
you created HIM/HER
to justify your wrongfulness
on the garb of religion

what was your GOD doing
while a father killed his dauther
in the name of honour.
whose honour was it-
can you truly answer that?
my heart goes for the girl
who has no freedom of choice

still in all the darkness around me
I can still see light
and turn towards it
believing I can make a difference
if I speak for those who cannot
giving voice to the weak
is the need of the hour

"let God live in peace in the places you built for him"

  2. Free will ... sadly we have the freedom to commit injustice & to take away the freedom of others.

    Isn't that ironic?

  3. God is an ever-existing consciousness, much more livelier in us rather than in various man made places of worship. We are the mover of the human conscience, but to which side, good or bad. That we have the answer. Being impartial to the scenes around us is not easy and at the same time to be partial too not warranted. Only wisdom can guide us through everything in life. Good write.

  4. Great thoughts in this one.

God...separate from us or a part of us? For me, never separate, never outside me. Not one thing, but all things. Not definable or graspable. ineffable, beyond words, but no need for words. In that sense, no need for poetry.

You're a math teacher, I believe. God adds up always to something more. We add up to something more...God.

  6. As a writer who constantly places my beloved characters into horrible situations so that they experience growth, I perhaps see earthly pain and suffering in a different light. When we recognize pain and suffering in others, that's our cue to act. To step in, ease others' hurt, to live a compassionate life.

  10. We were all given a free choice, and unfortunately the wrong choices are made. I'd like you to read a piece I wrote last week which compliments yours. Its called How Many Gods Are There, and I've linked it to my name.

  11. I may not believe in god, but I understand what you're saying. I definitely think people just use god as an excuse to do wrong.

    Good write.

    You're very intelligent!

  12. So often religion becomes a game in blame shifting--whether God does the building up or the tearing down. Such projections really measure the mass of ego, sadly. Yet another limit we oppose on mystery.

  13. it is hard to understand the injustice... where does one turn for comfort in moments such as these... yes, often we get lost in building for our own purposes instead of building our spirits within... great stuff, i agree that last sentence loaded...

  15. Humans love to play the free will 'card' as an excuse to justify 'god' shirking his responsibility to protect us.

If god so loved the world one would imagine that he/she/it would be stirred to action watching 30,000 children starve to death each day.

Sadly this lack of intervention suggests that either we know nothing of god or that we have grossly overestimated our value as the pinnacle of creation.

Honour killings are revolting and the perpetrators should suffer the most painful execution possible to reflect one of the most egregious betrayals on earth, a father's duty to protect his child at all costs...especially above his saving face.

  16. A very good poem about personal freedom. The world hasn't come that far, has it?

  17. thanks for this thought provoking piece. God or 'the light' is such a personal feeling/belief and as you eloquently state, those who 'use' God to justify unethical actions are part of a bigger cause to injustice. hmm..

  18. Tami, your words speaks of the unhappy truth for so many men and women. I have read of course the Kite Runner and many other Middle Eastern and Indian books that speak of honor above all else. Last night I watched The Kite Runner and saw a woman stoned to death.
What we Americans are doing in Iraq is not for honor but is unjust.
I pray someday all the unjust things we have done to each other will stop.
Powerful and moving words my friend.
    Love you, Melanie

  19. I like the Idea that we make a place for God to live in Peace-the irony is that God is Who makes real Peace Possible. That might be the real choice-to choose real Peace.
