you divided the earth
beating it down to splinters
it can not hold the filtering water
that rain trickles from up above
I see beyond the mountains
I wish to see fresh dew
but get a glimpse of the sky
split into two-
by that rainbow
"as if there was not enough hatred down here"
Gautami...
ReplyDeleteYou are just too much.

ReplyDeleteI love your photo and words; this is so beautiful and reflective! :D
ReplyDeleteSuch a nice, positive message, Gautami!
ReplyDeleteLovely. I wish that more people could "see beyond the mountains"...past themselves.
ReplyDeleteA rainbow has always been a sign of hope. As Mr Lennon pointed out in Imagine, some may say we're dreamers, but we're not the only ones.
Thank you for sprinkling a little more hope in this nasty world.
Namaste
Lovely images, GT. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteThis is fantastic!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photo. A rainbow always signifies hope to me. Hope for this nasy, polluted, hate-filled world. But the sun shines this morning, a new day, fresh hope.
ReplyDeleteAhh... this is absolutely divine.

What a lovely 55.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Brian, this could have different interpretations.
Yes, we need more love and a lot less hatred and fear.
I never thought of a rainbow as splitting the sky before! I always see them as joining earth and sky.
ReplyDeleteWhat a unique perspective and interesting 55.
nice tight poem...beautiful
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for sharing with me, I enjoyed your beautifully fractured sky :)
ReplyDeleteYou have given a wonderful slant to a rainbow. Beautiful poem.
ReplyDeleteToo much.....we just want the dew. Yes. Thanks for this.
ReplyDeleteWe generally associate rainbows with positiveness. But your negative perspective of the rainbow splitting the sky is refreshingly unique.

ReplyDeleteTo me, the last line rocks...
ReplyDelete'as if there was not enough hatred down here'
It has deep meaning and multiple interpretations... :)
a so different interpretation about a rainbow. we see beauty in it and this poem paints a division. even the rainbow wishes to divide, we can see through it:
ReplyDelete"it can not hold the filtering water"
"I see beyond the mountains"
and i loved the way you ended the poem.
lovely poem, impressive work :)
Good use of imagery.
