we left the turrets and domes
embraced this small wooden hut
you, my child, don't know it yet
that jitter I used to feel,
a mansion is not for me
waste land for some
when you climb that mountain
you will know about that thin divide
"grasses may lie low
our heads are held high
a blunt speech as any"
That thin divide ... beautifully written.
ReplyDeleteLovely work.

ReplyDeleteso beautiful...I can imagine this Momma and her love of freedom.
ReplyDeletewow...my word verification is: forbless
and your poem reads like a blessing from mother to child...how cool is that???
To leave the city and dwell once more in the wild openness. Yes. I am there. Beautiful post.
ReplyDeleteGautami, what a treat to find you! I knew you long ago from Gather. These are words of strength ... against a harsh world. I enjoyed your poem.
ReplyDeletelovely poetry:)
ReplyDeleteI feel grace in the open vastness
ReplyDeleteThis line makes me stop and breathe deep, thankful breathes.
So many do not know that beautiful feeling of living in the country. Cities and towns are great seducers drawing more and more in to their ugliness. Brave are those that can escape the pull. A really beautiful post.
ReplyDeleteA mother protecting and providing the best for her child..the strength you can see in the painting definitely carries through into your words..Jae
ReplyDelete"...grace in the open vastness"
ReplyDeleteI love that.
I love the yearned for promise of freedom, like a thin divide...
ReplyDeleteI love that painting.
ReplyDeleteSuch hope in this, and a lovely picture too!
ReplyDeleteGautami, this child is lucky to have a mother who understands true values in life. To be raised in a mansion is no gift for any child. Closer to the earth, the better, and you conveyed that well. Thanks, Amy

ReplyDeleteLucky child, to be given the chance to enjoy Earth (Gaia) before experiencing the horrors of the 'asphalt jungle'.
ReplyDeleteGood flow, all that - solid, you-distinctive piece.
ReplyDeleteWe are thinking along the same lines...nice work.
ReplyDeleteI know that jitter, from being around too much city, and not enough earth and sky. Great poem :)
