I hang from the sky
invisible to all
holding a manifest
from out there
may you all see light
(I know I can't)
in the smoky morning
sun hides as usual
within the folds of the clouds
"let us flock together, let us all fall,
let us measure the depth of miserable darkness"
Brilliant. A hanging sun and the aspect of invisibility lends a dark contrast, a modern desolation, to the light described.
ReplyDeletewow...love you closing lines...measure it we will...manifest...nice...
ReplyDeleteyour last line made me shiver a bit...let us all fall...but measure yes - i get this..
ReplyDeleteNice..I like the hanging sun...and closing lines.
ReplyDeleteHanging on the sky or in the sky..whichever..you give us a beautiful, thoughtful view..Jae
ReplyDeleteThe cavernous gloom of a high-rising city. I hate skyscrapers too.
ReplyDeleteLove the imagery of the hanging sun. Let us all fall... is an astonishing beauty of a line.

ReplyDeleteYour play on the spelling of skyscraper is interesting Gautami. This is rather difficult to read, very sad.
ReplyDeletethe hanging sun invisible, yet hoping we all see the light... even as we might together fall and measure the depths of darknesss...
ReplyDeleteamazingly eery in the contrast of thoughts.
A lot of depth in a few short lines. Nice point-of-view.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous and lush... the quote is exquisite.
ReplyDeleteYour imagery made me feel like I was there. And made me grateful I don't live in a large city.
ReplyDeleteLove this!
ReplyDelete"let us flock together, let us all fall,
let us measure the depth of miserable darkness"
I'm so glad I live in a small town...
It made me wonder if I was holding a manifest. Very probing poem from my angle. Very good. Read it a few times.
