strange it may seem to some

me, only with myself
nothing else.
not quite, a tiny glimpse of you
in my minds eye, I cease being
what I truly am. I become a part of you;
strange it may seem, without you being
here by my side. my palms open to
span your chest, finding nothing,
yet my nostrils pick up your scent.

"for me, your very thought is homecoming"

  4. Sometimes the people we love are more home than an actual place.
    Great insight. Thank you for sharing this.

  5. in a way, this is exactly how I feel right now. Someone is so close to the heart, yet so far away. I dont know if my life will make sense later on when I come to a point of making decisions, but the persistent memory deceives me everyday to still love and not let go. I just wish the others feel the same way, let it be even to support you in the face of others who are just there to provide distraction.

  7. This is brilliant! My dear grandmother's have both been gone well over 20 years, but I often will recall a fond moment and the sounds and smells flood back. They live within my heart.

  8. I've been there. There's nothing harder than reaching out and touching an empty space. It is good to consider how there really is no space between where one life ends and another begins.

  13. Isn't it so totally amazing how a scent, a sound, a memory can carry you to a place within your heart which transcends miles and miles of aloneness. Your words are consoling.

  15. Lovely poem. That last line is one of those magic lines that is poetry itself. I'm not participating this week but I thought I'd pop around and see what others were up to anyway. Lovely poem.

  17. Not strange at all. We don't have to be together to feel the connection. Good poem.
