an ode

the contours
the grace
yet you will burn me
moisture escapes from your orifice
snakes of steam hiss out of you
I am in awe of you

ode to shoes

Starting with this, I will write an ode to anything or everything I can think of. Of course I won't be able to get anywhere near Pablo Neruda's odes but I can try, can't I?

shoes
my red canvas shoes
white borders
red laces
white laces
which to choose
perfect fit
contrasts with white outfit
matches the red dresses
to the hilt
loves my toes
toes love it too
ankles like its warmth
rubber soles
kiss the roads
spiritually reverent
each day is a breakthrough
for those shoes
my red canvas shoes

"they touch the elements, revelations don't come amiss"

an ode for convoluted crevices

deep crevices
absorb sound, churning it for the brain

convoluted shells weigh reverberating words
lobes soft

bitingly so

pierced, decorated with love.

you deserve stars

I settle for second best-
I let you sparkle with diamonds
set in matt finished platinum.
my closest confidants
of my lover's naughty whispers,
I write this ode for you,
my much treasured ears.

Ode to the Bard---Sonnet---Poetry Thursday

prompt is to (1) Write a poem to, for, or about a poet and/or (2) Write a letter to a poet as given here. I take on part (1). That works well as a letter too, I think.

Ode to the Bard

writing this for you, oh great master
one of the best, your work adulated.
you wrote plays, mostly convoluted;
reading those, your words give pleasure;

the depth of which has no measure-
your work- even now, does not seem dated.
all lines and stanzas are there fated
by your popular appeal, poetic grandeur.

excelling in both comedy as well as tragedy;
you take us to a world full of imagery.
most quoted writer of literature & history;

your repertoires of sonnets are remedy
for beauty, love, mortality. discovery
of all these leading us to joyful allusory!

..............................................................

Here I write a
Petrarchan Sonnet in which the rhyming pattern is a-b-b-a, a-b-b-a, c-d-e-c-d-e. Sonnets by Shakespeare follow the rhyming pattern a-b-a-b, c-d-c-d, e-f-e-f, g-g . Those are English Sonnets . As I am the one writing it, I can chose the style..!! And please do not ask me about iambic pentameter.

For various types of sonnets click,

Finally, I dedicate this to a very dear friend, Stanley Shiel who made me go back to Shakespeare and Sonnets.
