your footfalls in the corridors
has jarred me numerous times
I have enforced discipline
with a firm voice
with a cajoling voice
also observe that, my words
only scratch the surface
that rage I feel
I keep it well hidden
yet your breathtaking smiles
has soothed my heart
"each year same story,
with different endings"

This goes for all my pupils (girls) I have taught over the years, currently teaching and will continue to teach in future. Do check out friday poetically with Brian and also Friday Flash 66 by G-man!
Loverly.
ReplyDeleteone thing about teaching, by the end of the year you fall in love with the kids, just in time to pass them on to the next teacher...smiles.
ReplyDeleteSweet... a kid's smile can quickly erase the feeling of angst boiling within.
ReplyDeleteThis is why you teach...
ReplyDeleteLoved your 55 Gautami.
I'd bring you an apple every day!
Thanks for playing, and have a Kick Ass Week-End
a lovely, authentic write... so true!
ReplyDeleteDiscipline is never easy, and it often takes trying new things before it all comes to together, doesn't it? :)
ReplyDeleteReally like the gratitude you show in this 55.
ReplyDeleteLove the "breathtaking smile" at the end... makes it all worthwhile...
ReplyDeleteSometimes you don't know whether to tear your hair out or hug them.
ReplyDeleteI miss coaching/mentoring/teaching.
ReplyDeleteI dont miss having to work extremely hard to maintain the peace.
Beautiful and timely with the end of the school year. I began my studies in education, but switched. Still loving to teach, I do so with adults ~ their smiles are never quite as breathtaking as those of a child whose lives you touch for such a short time. Nicely done.
ReplyDeleteHere's my 55: Friday Flash 55 ~ Repeat Echo
Emotionally effective-yet-restrained read, effective.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful turn at the end. Brought a smile to my face. Thank you so very much, I needed it!
ReplyDeletevery very soothing, a smile that's it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a thrill to land on your amazing poetry land.
