Last evening (July 21, 2009) I was hit by fast moving bike. Apart from a swollen arm, I am ok. It could have been much worse if I had fallen on the hard asphalt and hit my head or something. But only my right arm was hurt and no bones were broken. And no bleeding either. There is a bit of internal clotting and of course swelling with a perfect purple bruise. I had dislocated the same arm three years back, in July 2006. It had mended nicely and when the bike hit me and I came out of the haze, my first worry was a fracture. My guardian angel must have been working over time. Yes, it is vey painful as of now, I cradle it gently but I am very happy to alive and thriving. With painkillers, sleep has managed to snare me into its fold. Thank my stars, for that!
Glad you're (mostly) unhurt. I spent time in hospital after coming off a motorbike 3 yers ago - I don't remember anything about it, or the period of 2-3 weeks after.
ReplyDeletePlease take care.
ReplyDeleteSaw this on FB. I'm so glad you are OK, to a degree. Hope all continues well.

ReplyDeleteOh goodness...this was written so seamlessly with the prompt words, but I'm just sorry that it had to be based on a real event. Ouch...I'm so glad you're going to be OK!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry this happened to you, and glad your injuries are relatively minor. I was hit by a fast moving bike once and did fall on the hard asphalt, hitting my head. I had bad head injuries and still experience some consequences years later. I'm thankful nothing similar happened to you. ((Hugs))
ReplyDeleteSure glad it wasn't any worse. Take care!
ReplyDeleteSo ya will be armless for awhile huh?
ReplyDeleteGood luck and a quick recovery - sounds like a lousy evening, from my point of view.
ReplyDeleteOh, take care and God Bless.
ReplyDeleteIt will heal soon and you will be bewitching us with your wonderful writing again
I'm glad it wasn't worse, although it sounds bad enough. Sending you quick-healing thoughts!

ReplyDeleteHi Gautami, so sorry to hear about your little mishap! But I can't help wondering about the damage you must have done to the bike, and the poor cyclist.

ReplyDeletehope you'll recover quickly, but at last, you get to write this post - I like the line about sleep
ReplyDeleteOh, oh, owww! I'm glad it was "only" a bad bump, a bruise. ;-(
