foundations of wonder-------unpoem

illusion shatters fragile

glass of courage, breaking
foundations of wonder

leaving nothing to ponder
about, other than staring
straight ahead. tactile

feelings are light and agile;
trajectory of which is moving
beyond house of yonder

still foundations of wonder
hold glass of courage, mending
illusions which were fragile

"now as hard, as strong as diamonds"

  1. Very intricate poem - or unpoem - the courage to break and the courage to heal.

  3. A little courage goes a long way doesn't it! I'm glad you had a full glass, the first didn't fare so well.
Are illusions wrong? Bad? I wonder.

  4. Your glass of courage is indeed a wonder, able to deal with being shattered and able to mend from within!

    Beautiful poem!

  5. Sometimes courage is stronger the second time around because then you know what your dealing with.
    Great Poem.

  6. Courageously done. I find that, once courage is ignited, it can turn into a huge flame.

  7. Mending illusions--what a painful, slow, difficult process. This is a wonderful poem. I feel the brokenness and believe in the healing.

  10. Hi Gautami,

i like you recent poems more, i should say...

i always get stuck with the last quote; here: "now as hard, as strong as diamonds"

Gautami, Element carbon is as strong as diamond, and as soft as charcoal..layered...sliding layers, they say...

and what is organic life all about- just carbon?? :-)

    wishes!

  14. hi gautami--

    as usual, complex and rich...

nietzche said, 'we often heal stronger in the broken places'

    Thank you--

  15. I really like the unusual breaks in the lines of this poem. Mimics the unexpected ways that glass fractures.

  16. Gautami, what a wonderful way to find healing inside an unpoem. I felt you moved to a more peaceful place in your writing and emerged happier. I also felt you were speaking about the differences between each of your homes- the one you moved from and the one you are calling home now. Well done. Have a nice day.

  17. Like Sue, I like the way you marry the 'foundations of wonder' to the 'glass of courage'.

  18. I like the quiet momentum the
    repetition of words lends to
    your poem, and how moving
foundations of wonder is so apt.,
how we do shift in the midst
    of something so terrible.

  21. thanks again for getting the train going on the track!

wondering how courage could be so powerful in that glass! guess my heart's feeling too fragile today for that...

  22. We don't usually choose paths which promote hardship but when we come out the stronger - therein lies the miracle. That last verse is awesome.

  23. Tami, you have become a great poet. So free and full of flowing images. Poetry is feeling and sometimes pain. Well done my friend.
