blank page soaked

ink bled from that pen
smudging the paper
skillfully hiding words
which he had written
with much trepidition
for you and only you

oh well, he feels better for it
now that you can't read
all that he wrote for you
those words which split
him apart; now hidden
can mend him somehow

although he is not aware
of it. he is trying to rewrite
it unsuccessfully on a blank
page soaked with his tears
again smugding the paper

"paradoxically in a different way"

  1. Sad and true! sometime it is hard to write what you feel.

  2. I don't always understand poems, but I really found this quite sad, I felt the sadness in the words

thankfully, the comments dont get smudged :)

    cheers mate...

  4. That is a very cool poem. A great idea and really well made. I love the way it ends with a 'x' kiss.

  5. Enjoyed the contrast of words reveal and hidden, the same as emotions. Very nice!

  7. not sure what gingaTao means--did the x at the end get smudged? or does he mean the x in paradoxically?

    provocative all round

  10. This poem demonstrates paradox well.
    Thank you for sharing it.

  11. O the bleeding ink that stains and blurs with tears.

  12. An excellent paradoxical response.

  13. I like the idea of skillful ink that somehow undoes its own work! What an interesting idea. Makes me think the ink has a life of its own somehow.

Beautiful done. I feel this one through and through.

  14. sometimes just the act of writing things out without sharing the words brings such healing & your poem says that to me.

  15. Liked it, but felt the whole point lies here:

    "paradoxically in a different way"

  17. Here is a true feeling of hopelessness expressed. The tear soaked paper is so much more lasting than is the fickle 'delete' key.

  18. Very, very poignant. I can feel the image you described.

  19. To me this captures the opposite of a difficulty writing what one feels, but rather the fact that we may easily write what cannot share or even should not share.

  20. I like it, there's so much in just something down, even if it can't be read once it is written

  21. Very nice, Gautami. I think I've been there!

  22. Marvellous, Gautami - as always. I like how the narrator felt freed and relieved when no one could actually read what he'd written. Sometimes art is a dialogue only between the writer and himself or herself.

  23. This just pulled at my heart. Sad and profound.

  24. Sadly vivid. Paradoxical, indeed!!

  26. This is loaded! A story of hope triumphing over helplessness, like a window on a stolen moment in time, a nightmare revisited, perhaps!

    Excellent work!

  27. Yes, words can split us apart but the magic is that they can put us back together, too! Wonderfuly written!

  30. OK -- I have no computer skills. For days I've been calling up my shortcut for you and always come to the same post from September 10. "Busy," I think. Sometimes I can't post regularly -- but I know there have been comments. Well, maybe writer's block.

I apologize for not visiting the REAL blog -- apparently, I bookmarked a specific post from WOW. Duh.

This is a lovely poem and it's good to see your work again.

  31. Now looking at it...

    i begin to feel...
there's nothing "paradoxical" about anything..It is the way you look at it, no Gautami?

hope you agree and do not remove this, as you did with mine earlier...two three times...

there are people who just read comments too, they say ;-)

    wishes!

  33. 'those words which split
    him apart; now hidden

ah the rending power of words!
ah the mending power of words!

    this is haunting.

    thanx for visiting
