survival of the planet-----Sunday Scribblings

with mountains conquered,
rivers tamed,
forests cut down
earth mined to the core
future of the planet seems bleak
is it really?
are we wholly responsible?
everything that exists has to have an end
maybe we are hastening it
nevertheless, end of the planet is inevitable
irrespective of our misdemeanors
tenacity of the human mind
will not let go of our survival instinct

"no matter what"

  1. But we keep trying! The planet has the potential to survive far into the future if we stop hastening its end.

    Neat post.

  4. Interesting thoughts--but we can't just wash our hands of responsibility... btw, I watched the last of Deepa Metha's trilogy, "Fire" yesterday and will hopefully review it soon.

  5. I don't care if the end is inevitable. I still want my kids to have a future.

  6. I don't know. I live in a rural area where it's hard to believe that this will ever end. There are trees and mountains everywhere and they go on for miles and miles. I guess I'm an ostrich with my head in the sand!

  7. The thoughts are in everyone of us. Nice post. I guess it's a matter of time that this planet will be doom for some repair work. However, it will not disturb the present moment.

  8. Perhaps some day it may end - but I hope that day is far, far away - hopefully we can help postpone it for as long as possible...
    Nice piece of writing, Gautami.

  9. Oh I don't know sometimes people give up when the going gets tough or too difficult to come to terms with.

    That's the biggest problem.

  11. I think, if we go to the core problem, the planet isn't really in danger. It will survive until the sun burns its last. It is we who are at risk.

  12. Great post. It is too bad that the status of our planet is such a political issue with everyone having an agenda. I believe humanity will adapt to whatever the future brings.

  14. the planet will take care of itself for many million years to come... humanity may extinguish itself, though... and we're trying hard to do that in not too distant future...

  15. I think the end of the planet *should* have been vast millenia in the future, but by our arrogance we have hastened its coming and changed it irreperably.

What kind of legacy is that for our children?

  16. ...for a new spring time of life creativity to start... as envisioned in one of my poems...but then again, time for the final dissolution hasn't come yet - noy yet, there's still a bit more to do within the current cycle, for humans to more truly grow human. Shouldn't we let the present humankind come to experience yet a 'new' world run wholly without money - a modern paradise?
Would be pity if this world had gone down without things with us humans having come to that fruition, as laid out already not only in my homepage, but by many more... and more of them yet to come.
