who took march away from me?

march left me in a lurch
suppose it was in a hurry to go
to exit 181, 1/2 mile ahead.
to usher in the harsh summer

the april sun hits out at me.
painfully, I carry it on myself
a tempest in the making-
burning my skin in the process

loud march should have stayed
if the compass had not let it stray
maybe it needed my persuasive power
which I needed to use.

"riches of the disappearing months,
I try to collect in my palm-
waiting for you to pluck it from there"

  1. This is really lovely. March weather here is still lingering, and as a result. I'm not finding April quite so much - at least yet. ☼

  3. If you don't like the weather here, just wait five minutes. April is barely out of the starting blocks, give it time!

  5. "Loud march" is also a good play on words, as loud marches for freedom are taking place all over the world, even here in Madison, though our stakes are far less than the brave souls in Syria, Yemen, Egypt, and other places where peace is not a priority of some police...

Bless you, Gautami, for providing a bit of whimsy and a some food for thought. I'm at Writer's Isle this April as well:

  9. A lovely poem, and how I wish it could apply here - we could do with some of that April heat. We have snow, ice, ice and snow - and,did I say, snow!

  14. March was a bit too schizophrenic for me and so far April has deluged us with her rain. Maybe May would work out.

  15. Very nice. I wish I wasn't so rock-solid in my conviction that I suck at writing poetry...I love writing it, but I refuse to let it out into the world.
