coloured perspective

I could be a millionaire if I had the money
but I dabble in purple, maybe green too,
with yellow stars thrown in

I can't see the nest, not the wasp
but I know I painted it somewhere
in the whites that you see

I hold the moss reverently
rub it in the background
knowing he will gleefully like it

he had never been accused of being intelligent
but he had been accused of much worse
of painting the rusted hinge into flower bed

"but who are we decide the norms,
individuality will peep out of nothing,
I and you would be left lurching"

  5. Gautami,

As you might realize by now, I do like your approach to poetry.

There's a coyness to the humor -- or a tease to it.

Let me in on what I may be mistaking as one of your secrets. I think you've ended with quoted, italicized lines before.

Are you creating dialogue? Quoting 'a master'? Quoting yourself? Extending the playfulness by notably quoting yourself?

    I like it!

  23. "Painting the rusty hinge into flower bed." That image alone made this a standout, Gautami! Great take on the prompt - I think you got me started on Carry on Tuesday, so thanks!

  29. Aahh.. really liked the lines in quotes.. very thought provoking!

By the way, I just found out today (from your blog) that you are not okay with being addressed to as G.. And I realized that I have (albeit unintentionally) done that a few times in the past.. So, my sincerest apologies about that, Gautami..

    Thanks..

  32. You are a true artist of words.

You spin and you weave and you cast vowels and syllables out carefully and end up with tapestry of substance and beauty that surprises me each time.

I'm curious what your background is?

You are really an incredible writer.
