coiffured

she looked into the mirror,
dabbed a bit of perfume
touched up her lips,
checked on her studs

perfectly coiffured
with not a single hair
out of place, yet again
she smoothened her dress.

satisfied with herself
she was ready to face
the world, as of now.
she was so afraid of aging

a dead giveaway-
her knotted fingers!

  1. I liked that there was no sign of aging whatsoever until the last lines...up to that point you were simply describing a beautiful woman. I really enjoyed this!

  8. You just perfectly described my husband's grandmother!

She tried to disguise her aging but her hands were the dead giveaway!

  9. Amazing how the hands are the window to age, as the eyes are the window to the soul. Great poem!

I like Whitesnake's comment. I have a tee shirt with those words on, from the Billy Connolly tour.
