I relish that tea you made me
each sip filled with your love
as I watch the far away clouds,
I listen to the imaginary rumble of rains
time spent with you is always sacred
I cherish those moments again and again
it amazes me each time I visit you
your memory is as sharp as ever
your frail frame belies the strength that is you
and I know as long as you are there
I will be cossetted in your love
"when I finally get up to go home, my thoughts are,
if only our grandparents lived forever"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This goes out for my 95 year old maternal grandmother. She might be frail but she is a force to be reckoned with. I have been thinking of her a lot and this came out those thoughts...
A lovely tribute.
ReplyDeleteinterestingly, my first thought was to write about my grandfather, when I saw the words :):)
ReplyDeleteBut then... turned out to be something else:)
Sigh. So sweet. I wish the same thing. Parents too.
ReplyDeletevery beautiful dedication :)
ReplyDeleteThat is gorgeous. I lost my last living grandparent eighteen years ago now. But this captures how I feel about all my loved ones who are aging.
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful! You have captured perfectly a loving relationship, and the pride and comfort that you get from your relationship with your grandmother shines through. Very inspiring in it's loving gentleness.
How sweet. I feel that love for the grandparents. Mine are all gone now...and I miss them.
ReplyDeleteCan't improve on other comments so I will just leave this:
ReplyDeleteBeautiful.
They do live forever, in our hearts and minds.
ReplyDeletelovely. And that says a lot.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely precious. My maternal grandma was dear to me, too. She always will be. She passed away five years ago, at the age of 100.
ReplyDeleteThere is much richness here in not a whole lot of words. I hope you share this with your grandma. What a treasure for both of you.
ReplyDeleteBeautifully written but, I don't know, old age does not appeal.
ReplyDeleteHi Gautami,
ReplyDeleteYour poem is filled with as much love as the tea. Lovely.
What a lovely tribute to your grandmother! (I hope one day my grandchildren will feel that way about me...)
ReplyDeleteboth parents and grandparents are gone but the strength of their personalities live on in me and in my children. I will think of this and them the next time I have a cup of tea. Thank you.
I've only gotten to know my grandmothers through pictures and stories handed down -- my maternal grandmother passed long before I was born and I was only four when my paternal grandmother passed away. But yet, I look in the mirror and see her eyes. Amazing. You made me think of my own grandmothers with this loving and beautifully worded tribute. Thank you. You are lucky to know her.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. You captured the feeling of love and appreciation.
ReplyDeleteQuite good - for something in the Modern style. But wish you had used more words like "cosseted."
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, Miscreant - how dare you advertise your establishment upon my own blogpost!
