For sometime now, I have not been able to write poetry. Have your ever thought of words chasing in your mind and you are unable to catch any of those? That's what is happening. Maybe my inner conflict prevents me from writing. Previously words gave me relief by pouring out. Now those very words refuse to come out by hiding, I do not know where. Believe me, I keep searching for those. I can't write anything better than this.
fleeting moments
as yet uncaptured
chased by what?
Hello gautamii--
ReplyDelete'hidden in the arroyo of my mind'
what a great line!
I love your use of 'temporal'...brings us back to the issues of time and timelessness!
Thank you!!
"chased by what" ~ OOO! There is a defiance and a challenge here!
ReplyDeleteInteresting thoughts!
How do you manage to pack so much honesty into so few words!!
ReplyDeleteI like this haiku! it is true I can go a long time without writing at all and then I am writing all the time it is odd.
ReplyDeleteI don't know why, but in 25 years of writing, I've never had a block. I've had times when I can't be bothered, but even then ideas came, resulting in notes.
ReplyDeleteMaybe it's because if an idea won't immediately come, I don't chase it. I sit back, do something else, distract my thoughts.
Then something pops into the head.
A powerful haiku! for me, writing poetry comes in spurts. I'll write poetry for a month or two and then nothing for months... Keep writing, however.
ReplyDeleteI also think that I cannot write poetry and yet end up, just like you, doing it all the time. Maybe we should really redefine poetry?
ReplyDeleteGautami,
ReplyDeleteI wonder about the force that chases fleeting moments. What do I call this part of the imagination, and how do I settle it?
Thanks for this.
Oh how I know that feeling!
ReplyDeletedon't chase them.. let them look for you ;-)
i couldn't string together words like this for anything; but understand being blocked. have you ever worked through "the artist way" by julia cameron. It is a good book to unblock creative issues.
ReplyDeleteah, it is the nature of the fleeting moment to remain uncaptured.
ReplyDeleteVery good: fleeting moments as yet uncaptured - yes.
ReplyDeleteI go through periods like that ..it's frustrating but it sorts itself out..somehting wiull trigger the flow..
ReplyDeleteI really like this simple but phiilosophical thought!
ReplyDeletethis one was nicely caught!
ReplyDeleteI've miss your writing, hope it stops hiding.
..there is a mystery in these lines that is beautiful..many thanks..
ReplyDeleteoh, i can relate... i feel i have run out of inspiration, that everything worth saying has been said before... i can't produce haiku on a daily basis anymore.
ReplyDeletebut this is so beautifully written...
expressive with few words..
ReplyDeleteloved those lines..!!
:)
Hello gautami:
ReplyDeleteI can definitely relate, and I think this haiku captures what we've all felt from one time or another. For me, it seems like verbal constipation.
I echo the others. Keep writing. Eventually the words will start chasing you again.

Hi Gautami, "chased by what?"
ReplyDeleteI sure hope you find out because you are doing so good now that I can not imagine what all you could do when you figure out the block.
..
When I get an idea I put it on paper or into the computer before I lose it. Sometimes I don't use the idea except to look at it by myself. That works for me.
..
Everyone that writes poetry must go into some hibernation of the mind sometime, you must be in one..only that you believe its you causing it,no..it isn't, just chill and write something, doodle by words;you'll love it
ReplyDeleteMad love for your work from as far as this.
Very nice. Maybe this little drip will be what is needed to start the flow of creativity! I went months with out writing this year, thankfully it came back and so will yours. Thanks for sharing it. What does chase fleeting moments? Hmmmmm. :-)
ReplyDeleteNot to worry.
ReplyDeleteSince our brains (hard drive) do not have a functioning junk filter, everything gets tossed into one, big, bin.
So every once and a while, your mind (operating program) needs to sift through the pile and determine what's what.
You can either do this subconsciously in your dreams, which for me is usually WAY more interesting, or while you're lucid by writing out a poem, post, rant, or even a simple 'to-do' list.
Either way we all need to delete our junk and scrub your drives.
the moment you try to close your hand on it, it is gone...
ReplyDeleteYou've really captured writer's block. An excellent haiku, thank you for sharing it.
ReplyDeleteI think this haiku is powerful. And, unfortunately, I can identify with you -- sometimes emotions and the words that describe them refuse to reveal themselves.
ReplyDeleteLet's hope your block is fleeting! But really, you have something interesting every week.
ReplyDeleteAs usual, you are in fine form - you always capture something unexpected and thoughtful!
ReplyDeleteI can really identify with this haiku. I am taking a class right now that involves a lot of writing and the poems are sure struggling.
ReplyDeleteIt does happen to all...a kinda block. Find the words between the gorges of your soul, buddy. They are there, I can see that. Poke them out and pour on this site. Do it fast, before they go deeper:).
ReplyDeleteAh, yes, fleeting and fleeing. Well done.
ReplyDeleteI know this feeling. Hope it passes for you soon.
ReplyDeleteHi Gautami, great thoughts in this little piece, keep on taking care of the quality and the quantity will take care of itself.
ReplyDeleteCome over to STG.. for a glass of wine from the virtual vine..
very nice; really shows the confusion and the never ending thought process. I see you have broken your block above!
