arched architecture
closing her eyes, she visualised it-
dimensions were a bit harder to imagine,
picking up her 2H pencil, she traced lines
delicately keeping her T angled.
something was wrong, she couldn't figure it out-
discarding the drawing sheet yet again.
so much time wasted, nothing to show for it-
fist clenched, she seeked composure.
no one understood her desperation-
this was either make or break for her,
this very thought drove away cobwebs-
her pencil moved afresh with renewed vigour.
when her designs were executed-
it was beyond anything anyone had seen,
in a space of few days, along wih fame-
unthinkable amount of money started pouring in.
"persistent paid or was it sheer luck?"

I had to smile when I saw "T angled." Smart.
ReplyDeleteI love the positive energy in this mantra. I can feel that you will use this in your own life. :)

Persistence and luck often go hand in hand.
ReplyDeleteLove the "T angled" twist.
Gotta say what the others said. That 'T angled' was perfect :-)
ReplyDeleteI once heard someone say that 'luck' was years of determination meeting a moment of opportunity.
Was actually going to say what PJD did
ReplyDeleteAt least I hope so. Woody Allen has a great quote persistence about success being but he was successful in his chosen fields so young
As usual wonderfully done.
Oh, yes! Well done and the T angled is masterful!
ReplyDeleteloved that untangled T angle!!!!
ReplyDeleteIt is splendid!
ReplyDeletevery nicely done...hard work sure pays off like no other.
ReplyDeleteWhat an angled T we weave?
ReplyDeleteMore likely persistence. Thank you for describing the artistic dilemma in poetry.
ReplyDeleteThe T angle rocks. Persistence pays off, but so does luck, I think.
ReplyDeleteCleverly done!
ReplyDeletegautami,
ReplyDeleteI like to believe it's perseverance!;)
Better lucky than good.

This is great, good work gautami!
ReplyDeleteI also love the way use tangled. I think persistent lend itself to luck, though not all the time.
ReplyDeletepersistence. I like the angst in this.
ReplyDeleteNice action--all over a drafting table
ReplyDeleteAll right!!! Gautami you rock -- nice move making Tangled T angled -- worked so well .... lovely use of your creative imagination!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous, gautami. I would love to line up all your narrrative poems, witnessing the lives of your unique characters. You are able to portray a wide variety of emotions. Here- the joy of success and the satisfaction one feels after hard work.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see this design!
ReplyDeletedefinitely felt the tenseness of the t angled.... thought abt my son drawing and how tense he sometimes appears and he uses that t thingee all the time... you described him perfectly... funny recently had a conversation with him abt his art... he sed persistence ... thank you for the info on your leave yr comment section... never knew...
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the essence of this. I'm a struggling actor in L.A., and I'd like to think that one day the success I'm working toward and that I know I deserve will come my way. You hear a lot from people talking about how hard it all is, or how impossible creative sucess is, so it's really nice and refreshing to read about somebody making it. Thank you.
ReplyDeletehard work and inspiration, i think...
ReplyDeletewell done!
Persistence is definitely part of it :)
ReplyDeleteso much time wasted, nothing to show for it-
That reminded me of so many frustrating nights when I try to write.
What a treat to read this! The word play and the dream of money flowing in are delicious!
ReplyDeleteI think every "artist" struggles with this. Sometimes, what we produce is crap. Sometimes, it's beauty. Skill and luck have a lot to do with both of those outcomes.
ReplyDeletethis very thought drove away cobwebs-
her pencil moved afresh with renewed vigour.
Loved that. Nicely done this week Gautami. Sorry it took me so long to get aroudn to it: I was gone all week and just posted tonight.
