ash laden reality

Flying Down, 2006, by David Salle
spiral traps me
I am stuck to the wall
you will paint me with damp ash
I will hide in the corners before bolts lock me in
the bird climbed down to be with me
bundles of straw stuck to her wings
what remains of that storm
which you conjured in your imagination
evidence of it shook out that tiny plane

"do bring some husk to cover the smooth floor,
I am not going to last in the corner for long"

  5. This is, as others have said, enigmatic and I love that about it. It has an immediacy that feels urgent and the words wind through it naturally. Well done.

  11. I really like your poem Gautami. The feeling of being trapped and finding survival difficult, reminds me of the poem you wrote about being encased in marble. Thank you for sharing this. =D

  12. Stuck in a corner..that says so much to me. Sometimes life corners us and we hope that even if it takes a fall to free us someone will be there to sweep up our broken pieces.

  13. Echoing Tess's comment. And, yes, disturbing on a bare bones level.

  18. Gautami,

Read 4 poems now. Each one has own standing. These words are so true - waking eyes see the inner soul
only an open mind can fathom the depth.

    Take care
