a picture

a picture
nothing more
blue lifts my mood
I wish to hug that child
his father is lost to him
crown is a burden for the baby too
he is unaware of it as yet
he wants his father to love him,

"king holds his child,
but his heart is as dead as his queen"

  1. "his father is lost to him", in more ways than one. Nice work.

  2. And His Father loved His beloved Son! But the crown was very heavy, indeed.

  5. Lovely, thoughtful, and rife
    with emotion, affection,
    and compassion; good poem.

There are those lovely lines in
the film BEN HUR; one of Joseph's
customers, angry that a table has
    not been repaired yet, said,
"Where is that son of yours, and
why does he not take care of
    his father's business?"
    Joseph said, smiling,
"Oh he cares very much, and
he is off as we speak taking
    care of his father's business."
There was no veil of forgetfulness
for the infant Jesus, so possibly
he already felt the weight of
    his sacrifices to come.

  6. A refreshing perspective! Indeed, the mother image dominates in these scenes of a child. Somehow the father image is elusive!

  30. ...I like so much of it. I just don't understand the part where you say "he wanted his father to love him". It has certainly made me think and think but I don't understand why you put that. But that is OK - poetry is like that. ;)
