Capitulation---Poetry Thursday

Journeying beyond experiences
gladly I surrender
into your eyes. They embrace
me without touching
any single part of me,
closed as they are but open
within the mind, for me,
receptive of my thoughts;

folding me into their
softness of gaze,
beholding my feelings
endearingly to their vision.
Glowingly melting the ice
within my textured heart,
mending it magically,
no markings visible as if never broken.

Gratefully I nudge my way
into your arms, wishing for
eternal home there,
sensing strength in your fragile being.
Vulnerability does not
bother me any more,
knowing I am safe with you.
Sense of completeness

hitherto unknown, engulfs me.
Burrowing myself deeper
I let go of my whole
being into your keeping.
You wordlessly open your eyes.
Mysterious depths take me
in. Pollinating each other
for an intense divine union.

  1. You are a wonderful romantic poet! Perfect use of words.
When I have time I'll read the review. (It's 3:00 AM here -- I'm off for the summer and I'm acting like I did when I was a teenager. :) )

  11. Ah, what a lovely love poem. You have truly opened yourself to us and to love. From what was once broken, the poet has found a safe home and a new love. Would that it could always be so. Beautiful.

  20. This was really something new from you that I did not expect. Free-verse. It has been quite a while. You are so talented with the form poetry that I was not expecting this. What a wonderful love story expressed in this poem.

  22. Hi Gautami! I really love this and the feeling it has to me of gentleness, merging and deep trust. It's very beautiful and moves me deeply too. I really like the words you used -- surrender, embrace, gaze, melting, home, completeness, whole, depths, and divine union. You created a really lovely experience and poem. I'm off to the British Museum now!

  23. Not that long ago a sentence such as "pollinating each other
for an intense divine union" could have you placed in irons M'lady.

I adore what you have to say about voluntarily putting your neck, heart, and soul, on the chopping block for someone else. Isn't that the very definition of crazy?

You start this sensual journey with some ocular intercourse and never let go. Very intimate.

    "hitherto unknown".
Nothing on Earth is as exciting as that first time feeling. You really 'got' me with this one.
    love it.

  24. I love how you capture the vulnerability and trust that true love requires. And reading it is like falling in love all over again (sigh!)

  26. Thanks for your comments. Love has to be like this. Either this or nothing.

I don't write love poetry very often. Not unless I feel strongly about it.

  29. Gauatami, you have done what I have so far been incapable of, you have written a beautiful love poem, that speaks the words in my heart but not the words that come out when I try to put them on paper. Thank you. I have to read this to my husband.

  30. The last line made me smile, "Pollinating each other..."
Almost cheeky after the otherwise touching deep sentiment expressed throughout.
