cowering within the shell of soul
tradition loses out on meanings
absentmindly the pen doodles
on that blank page trying to
fill it in with the past events
which have to be recalled
out of cold numbness
"if only it was that easy"
#Update on Dec 7, 2008: This is NOT about writers block.
Hi Gautami!
ReplyDeleteWriter's block or dilemma?

devika

ReplyDeleteAahh, yes, the doodling and the weariness. Great stuff
ReplyDeleteOh, I hate that struggle...you expressed it so well here!
ReplyDeleteMany can relate to this wonderful poem. Good one.
ReplyDeleteWhat a clever meltdown of the three prompts! And they work so well together! Some doodle!
ReplyDeleteumm, yes."absentmindly the pen doodles". very familiar. :)
ReplyDeletebut you didn't have a problem with this one. :)
Wow very nice. absentmindly yes till you don't have it any more than it all comes fully to your mind again
ReplyDelete"Cold numbness". Deep..Love this.
ReplyDeleteI like this one very much. It is so well expressed that I almost felt uneasy.
ReplyDeleteSometimes the struggles allow us to find the inner strength and insight.
ReplyDeleteThis can be a struggle, to be sure. Working through numbness--reviving life--can be hard work.
ReplyDeleteThis poem express your frustration very well, good work.
ReplyDeleteThis gets more intriguing with every read. I see so much in it - especially what seems to me at least, the irony of the last line. Very powerful.
ReplyDeletetraditions trying to fill in the past moments..very interesting..may be it is meant to relive every word of it
ReplyDeleteIndeed sometimes tradition does lose out on meanings and we must find a way to fill the space left out!
ReplyDeletegautami--
ReplyDeletewonder what the relationship of 'absentmindedly' and 'cold numbness' might have
Thanks for this--if only!
Never is. But maybe in the doodling one can find what some peace. Makes me think of my own doodling.
ReplyDeletelike a cowry shell, this has depth and spiraling thought - wonderful!
ReplyDeleteIt's there, I know it is! Just a little
ReplyDeletedoodler's block.
..
Yes, it seems that some traditions are obligations and meaningless "Have to be recalled out of cold numbness."
ReplyDeleteAm not sure of your thoughts and they may be private...sometimes we want to break out of tradition (our soul) but it isn't that easy, by no means
Very thoughtprovoking doodles
I'm feeling just like this right now. You did a wonderful job merging the prompts.
ReplyDeleteGreat things have come from little doodles! Excellent.
ReplyDeleteLove this!
ReplyDeleteEspecially - the pen doodles
on that blank page trying to
fill it in with the past events

I really like your opening line-- it feels cold and confining.
