weaving webs---Writers Island
a world of web, spider weaves webs steadily
with gossamer silken threads, chained strong
waiting to swoop for an unsuspecting prey
to fall into that parlour of smoothened edges
resistance is useless, as the lure of unknown
breaks it with skill. well versed with the art
of story telling, clairvoyance too coming forth
to conclude that breaking. wings smeared
with honey cannot fly away. crawling out
of it, with so much dignity, difficulty- victim
gets away, cleansing away that stickiness;
shaking to core, it flies soaring to open sky.
if friendship was the agenda, it had to fail
spider’s web can draw, however, has to let go
promises never made, can never be broken
persistence can never turn into persuasion.
mind’s rivulets have the potential to hold
another mind to ransom, yet with strongest
of will power, it escapes. it has to, for its own
sanity- out of nothing, no life can be built.
a world of web, spider weaves webs steadily
now it is with words, which are meant to pierce.

It seems these two lines are sticking out to the majority. They are very well written and hit the spot in our minds. We've all been there.
very intense - can the words escape?
ReplyDeleteI'm struck with some of my fav words from Madeline L'Engle about how we weave the patterns of our lives. Lots of power and beauty in this poem.
ReplyDeleteYee haw, Gautami. This is one dark piece.
ReplyDeleteif friendship was the agenda, it had to fail.
Scarily, how often do I wind up saying that, myself?
Lure friends with promises into a web. Very deep my friend.
ReplyDeleteStrong words and the final line brings it to a point. Beautifully done!
ReplyDelete'resistance is useless,
ReplyDeleteas the lure of unknown',
somehow those words I love...hoe can one resist the unknown?
Every thing I wanted to say has already been said. Brilliant as ever.
ReplyDeleteencompasses everything in a lifetime of a friendship...beautifully spoken...thank you, reading it twice i had to reflect...
ReplyDeleteYour work is getting better, it explodes with ideas and wonder. It is truth and falsehoods combined.
ReplyDeleteThe one thing I really love though, is the way you use the cryptic messages, it is truly extrodinary.
and the web of words can be more dangerous than that of gossamer.
ReplyDeletewell done yet again, gautami.
You have woven a beautiful web of words about the duplicity of some relationships.
ReplyDeleteWell done!
"spider’s web can draw, however, has to let go" my favorite line... sometimes we try so hard to hold on to friendships not realizing that sometimes... they need to be let go of...
ReplyDeleteThat was lovely and powerful!
