clouded into obscurity

Chilmark Hay, 1951 by Thomas Hart Benton
that horse wants hay
and that clown pushes him away
in those coloured clouds
raindrops sway
when trees turn to be dragons
can the horse be far behind?
elongating his neck
he refuses to move
the mounds interest him
yet the horse talks to the ground
everybody hurts sometimes
be it man or horse

"you take the circular path
I will trudge the river in a straight line"

  3. Can't say the farmer looks rested. Farming is hard work, lets hope he treats his animals well.

  5. Gautami,

How true! Everyone of us is hurt sometime or the other at being denied what we want.

    Take care

  6. I enjoyed this one. It certainly covered things that hadn't occurred to me. Thanks for the read.

  7. Perhaps the farmer doesn't see the hurt for the hay. One wonders what the ground says in return to the horse.

  9. I really feel for the way you evoke an emotion in the horse without anthropomorphizing it.
