unmasked

you see me as someone serious
who is always buried in books
writes poetry at drop of a hat
I wait every night
buried in shadows
a mask

  2. So true. Our blogs can be but a mask to our real selves. Or they can also be quite revealing. Thanks for being a part of my Sunday 160. Hope you play again.

  3. Thought provoking 160- I find it interesting the whole notion of who we are that we present to the world... if we try to deceive others we only succeed in deceiving ourselves.

    Truly a great 160.

  7. This was just a bit spooky. Is there a vampire lurking behind the poet's mask?

  15. This is a deeply moving poem...and isn't it always the case that we are mistaken for what the public eye sees. We forget that the soul/spirit of a person runs so much deeper. Lovely lovely poem.

  16. We get such vivid images from one another's poems and forget it is only a glimpse, a flashing moment, often gone before completely comprehended. Wonderful Gautami,

  17. It is interesting that you titled this poem "Unmasked," as if it is waiting or hoping to be known, and no longer masked. This poem related feelings I think that we all know; so nicely expressed!

  21. Very rightly said. People always percieve something different about writers and poets than what they are in real. Nice poetry. :)

  23. It is so hard to know someone from just a few words each week.We never have a full picture of people we no in real life. But over the course of weeks and for some of us years, I wonder if the people reading our words don't learn things about us we don't see in ourselves.

  24. can anyone know any but a part of us? I love this and feel it to be so true!
