About comment boxes...

I thought I would take a moment to rant here. I do that once in a while although in the recent past I have not done much of that.

Today I will talk about the comment boxes.

As we all know blogger has introduced the embedded comment box, and it has been a while now. Somehow I don't find it user friendly, especially if one uses word verification. Why do I have to click it at least thrice to get my comments through? It truly pisses me off.

I also don't like the intensedebate way of commenting. It also takes a while and I kind of desist from commenting there unless , it is something I can't miss.

Open id is a good way. Wordpress uses it, although it is somewhat different. Commenting on wordpress blogs is a pleasure.

I don't mind comment moderation and/or word verification, but both being used together, is not a good option. Have either of the two, not both. I didn't have either but due to spam, I have resorted to word verification. And any comment older than two weeks, goes into moderation.

We all thrive on comments. And the least we can do is to make it easy for our visitors to leave their foot prints.

Reading Room Deleted

Since last night I am in a state of shock. I got emails that no one could access my book reviewing blog:

I posted a message at the help forum at google/blogger.

And when I tried to acess it today in the morning, I found that it has been deleted. Without any prior notice, information or anything of that sort. I lost 650+ posts. That's not all. I lost three years work, all the effort I had put in it. And a massive part of myself. A book blog is intellect's home. I lost all that and more. I don't know if it can be restored. Google has deleted a lot of blogs over the weekend. What I feel is they should have checked first.

I do have a back-up for this blog at wordpress. And I was thinking of getting one for Reading Room but lost it before I could.

Can anyone help me retrieving my blog? I would appreciate it very much.

I will continue posting poetry here, no matter what. And will start from scratch for another book blog, if I can't retrieve it. Massive work but I have to do it.

Kill Word Verification----rid the world of useless typing

I am all for it. I am joining this movement from now onwards. Frankly tell me, how many spam comments do you really get? I don't have word verification, neither do I have comment moderation. And truthfully I do not get spams. If I do, those are very rare and in between. I delete those instantly. So what is the big deal? So come shake it, folks! We need hassle-free blogging, i.e, commenting forum. Don't we?

I hate it even more when blogs have word verification along with comment moderation. I think that is being paranoid. However, many bloggers do not know that they have word verification as it can't be seen by blog authors.

If you have it and don't know it, then you should do the following steps:

Go to dashboard---->Click settings---->Click comments----->Scroll down to Show word verification for comments?----->Click No---->Click Save Settings and you are done!
