spin dryer---read write poem/Monday Poetry Train
We were invited to write poetry by collaborating with a fellow poet. Somehow I could not bring myself to do that. This is yet another one of my rare love poetry if one can call it that! Posting this for Monday Poetry Train too..
love tumbles within me
reminiscent of clothes in dryers.
I plummet, turning inside out-
circling directionless.
I form, reform myself;
when dryer stops.
taking me out,
you smooth, soothe, smell me-
enjoying my clean warmness,
filling me with your quintessence.

Quintessencial!:)
ReplyDeletemmmmm - i'm almost looking forward to the next load of drying :)
ReplyDeletethank you
I like the metaphor of love as clothes tumbling and spinning in a dryer. Well done!
ReplyDeleteYou know, just by using words from word prompts you are sort of collaborating. We all are influencing each other each week as we read each other's poems. So maybe that's all the collaboration you need. :)
You used just the right words. Well done!
ReplyDeletei like this very much Gautami... brings back memories. best wishes to you and yours.
ReplyDeleteoh and i LIKE that idea of co-op poetry writing. sounds like fun... especially with a group.
I'll never think of laundry the same way. ;) It was lovely, thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeletebreathe in the clean, fresh air of love...wow, I enjoyed the comfort and warmth of your poem...I think I too, will look forward to my next load of drying with more appreciation!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas beautiful one!
Yeah, that's how I feel. Now if only someone would smooth me... I could really use that.

I do love laundry poems.
ReplyDeleteThis is wonderful! I love the sensation of putting clothes on fresh out of the dryer, and it is similar to the feeling of being in my hubby's arms... all safe and snuggly warm. Nicely done again!
ReplyDeleteHave a good one! Merry Christmas and hv a happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteKeshi.

This image is so vivid and unique! With your permission, I'd love to use it for my Poem-of-the-day with my World Literature students. They'll love it, I know, plus, quintescense will be one of their vocabulary words the week we get back from vacation. Thanks!
ReplyDeletebeautiful and very sensual :)
ReplyDeletei feel your pain about collaboration. at least i understand and i used to feel that way. i have only been doing it off and on for the last couple of months. i had refused to do it until a couple close poet friends invited me.
ReplyDeletethe only way i was able to start was by telling myself that it was a writing exercise. not the kind of writing exercise where i expect to end up with a poem but the kind of writing exercise where i play with words. it freed me, helped me let go of the need to create a finished, publicly-consumable piece when i looked at it that way.
and i've started to like it! it's a nice surprise to see what comes of it -- something that wouldn't have otherwise existed if left to my own devices and something that is evidence not of my own writing prowess (or lack thereof) but of the courage to step outside my poetic ego and muck around with someone else's.
i'm sorry to sound like a commercial. if you ever reconsider, let me know!

haha, i really like this!
ReplyDeleteSaw you over on read/write poem. Must confess, I also find collaborating very difficult.
Once again, good work, thanks for bringing a smile to my face! :)
Oh, and excellent point mariacristina. :)
