fly in!------Writers Island

fingers itch, face twitches-
wide browed stare
searches moronically
for that fly which escaped.

slowly head turns toward
roof, taking in the walls
too at a glance.
the fly eludes, moving

out of periphery.
with a blink, eyes gather
themselves, collecting-
return to task at hand.

I key in the words
of this observation
for posterity. fly zooms
in to trouble some more.

  12. Funny how one can be so easily distracted, indeed nearly driven mad, by one little bug. Original take, making the word a verb instead of the more obvious object.

  14. Guatami. what an interesting take on The Key. I love it. OH, BTW- when you are done, can you come over and swat my millers(that's moths in mid-western slang.) Can't help it as it is rooted deep in my mind. Lovely and clever poem.
