The End sounds so final. It gives us so much to ponder about. Love ends, relationship ends, life ends. On a more mundane level, the things we do in a daily basis, terminate at some point. Certain thoughts close. Certain feelings conclude. Emotions cease. We feel the pain for a few of those endings. Elated by certain others. We welcome it too. End need not be sad.
What we call “The End” is it really that? I would say, no. It is a new beginning, a new direction, a renewal. That is necessary for the growth of our minds, nature renews itself, and life is born yet again.
After every calamity just when we think, everything has wrecked; the Earth renews itself creating new life apparently out of nothing. With that instinct of endurance, the indomitable human spirit always survives. Nothing can keep it down for long. If we lose something or get lost, we find other things, we find ourselves. We might not be able to know that just then. After a while, the meaning of it can be fathomed, it is not buried but comes forth. Our weaknesses are overtaken by strength.
The End, in reality, is a reinforcement of faith, belief, and spirituality. It is a beginning, a restoration of life. Whenever I have thought it is the end of the world for me, I have emerged stronger and a better person, almost reborn.

While you are at it, do not forget to read "Bard's Dilemma" which reflects any poet's dilemma.
(Self-promotion never harmed anyone!!)
I feel like this was written for me, on a day when I really needed to hear it...thank you, gautami, so beautifully put.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great post! It is beautifully written. Also, thanks for the last link.... Keep in touch!
ReplyDeletea lot of truth in this
ReplyDeletegood thoughts indeed!
ReplyDeleteI guess it's a matter of perspective. Beginnings and ends are all points on a cycle which is life. Where we are in this cycle defines whether we feel it is an end or a beginning and as you point out, we cope with it, get through it, embrace it and move on round the cycle again.
ReplyDeleteLovely post :)
mm...Renewal, it motivates one to look forward to a new beginning and not dwell too long at "The End". Beautifully written!
ReplyDeleteYes. Sometimes it is hard to see or to remember, but everything that happens is a point along an ever-turning wheel.
ReplyDeleteHI from Michelle
ReplyDeleteIn Yoga we are taught to let go... not to become attached to things because they can weight on us and cause stress...
In a since we learn to "end" things and move on
There is a snake that swallows itself creating a perfect circle
where one ending is a new beginning :)
Interesting thoughts. Well-spoken and articulate. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteMichele sent me today.
yes I agree in fact Michelle sent me back to say so :)
ReplyDeleteI couldn't help but think of the phrase, what doesn't kill you will only make you stronger. Good post
ReplyDeleteWell Gautami, there is always something new and interesting here. I agree with all you say especially about the renewal of strength through devastation. At its simplest the hill on which we live was scourged by fires bur this year the heather is the thickest, purpliest, sweetest it has ever been.
ReplyDeleteMichele sends her best.
I believe that there is no end without a new beginning.
ReplyDeleteEven death is comforted by the new life springing up around the grief.
Michele sent me to see how in tune we are, gautami :-)

What beautiful and insightful writing.
ReplyDeleteAnd what a positive outlook on what so many people dread...the end of anything. I'm a firm believer that the end can truly be a glorious beginning.
Visiting here from Michele's.......
This post sounded so much like what I wanted to say about the end...but you said it all...the end is just part of renewal processs...and sometimes it creates something even better....
ReplyDeleteGosh I miss you, and I miss writing...been too busy...
Michele sent me to tell you that his post, and also your Sonnet, were both beautiful, though in greatly different ways.
ReplyDelete(I haven't written my Sunday scribbling yet. Soon.)
I loved your last paragraph, Gautami- sums it all up so well.
ReplyDeleteExcellent, dear friend... excellent.
Hi G! I feel it too, all the time. And I think it's fascinating to experience change on so many levels.
ReplyDeletewonderful writing...very true.
ReplyDeleteMichele sent me over and my computer isn't all screwy this time.
I like your way of looking at endings as new beginnings.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you liked the way I write, Thanks for your comment.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great post, not many people can adjust their perspective to view "the end" as something positive,
beautifully put...you have a new blog stalker now :)
thanks so much for visiting. I love what you have to say. When you try to say this to someone out loud it sounds so weird but reading it this make so much more sense
ReplyDeleteWell put Gautami and amen sister!!!
ReplyDeleteI have always tried to believe that an end is also the promise of something new.
ReplyDeleteWe can’t begin until we end. I enjoyed your post.
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful and spiritual post -- I hated to see it end!! Love lurking on your blog, Gautami -- take care...
ReplyDeleteGreat way to look at it!
ReplyDeleteI like the hopefulness of it all. Lovely post, written quite well, as always.
ReplyDeleteI love this post, so much to think about in there. Beautifully written.
ReplyDelete"Our weaknesses are overtaken by strength." I love reversals and inversions. (Did I mention that I once long ago lived in your city?)
ReplyDeleteyes we both agree...sometimes ..most of the time... "the ends" are just "new beginnings"..
ReplyDeleteI like this post. I think life is more fluid than our minds make it out to be. Perhaps we need to think about change rather than endings.
ReplyDeleteYes! Behind every ending there is a beginning. There is hope.
ReplyDeleteGreat post!
Your words bespeak a great wisdom, Gautami. We often forget how ephemeral we, as individuals, are. We forget that we exist within a much broader, long-term context, that we have little understanding of eras and epochs that extend far longer than our blink-length lives.
ReplyDeleteYou've got me thinking yet again. I'm glad Michele sent me back.
Your last comment says it all, Gautami...
ReplyDelete"Whenever I have thought it is the end of the world for me, I have emerged stronger and a better person, almost reborn."
That is so very true, endings can also be called new beginnings... life is a continuity.
Very good reflection post on "the end"!
Thank you for visitng my blog. And thank your for the hopeful words of renewal.
ReplyDeleteAnd here we are literaly a world aprat geographically and our two blogs lokk so much alike...great minds!
Thanks for visiting my blog. I enjoyed your post very much and agree with the sentiments, so well put!
ReplyDeleteI suspect that when folks stop lookingt at the end they realize that this is the present and that the present always means hope for continuing.
ReplyDeleteNice post, gal. As for me, long before thend ever catches up with me, I will be late.
For example, only today did I post my 3WW because I have not had a computer machine all week long.
'Course, the good news is five new paintings.
Hmmm.
Maybe these here machines DO eat up time and life, eh?
I echo everyone's comments, this post is beautiful and spot on. I especially love the last paragraph.
ReplyDeleteAnd so. It is renewal rather than end. Nicely written wisdom...
ReplyDeletewhen you have a hope or a dream, and you believe, then it will happen. When we have an end it is because we no longer believe nor dream.
ReplyDeleteThe End of the world will not come until we all give up hope and stop fighting the opressors.
We lose faith, when we stop believing in what ever faith we have.........That is the End!
First off LOVE the new blog look.
ReplyDeleteI especially needed to be reminded that endings need not be sad.
As always it's been a pleasure stopping in.
Namaste
Gautami,
ReplyDeleteHow true your words are.
Whenever I have thought it is the end of the world for me, I have emerged stronger and a better person, almost reborn.
And it does, although at times we do not see it.
Wonderful scribblings!
I was just thinking the same thing.
ReplyDeleteI agree that an end is also a beginning, which can help when struggling with a difficult "the end"...
ReplyDelete"If we lose something or get lost, we find other things, we find ourselves." - I really loved this line, it is so true. This was a wonderfully uplifting entry.
ReplyDeleteThank you for stopping by, I'm just now getting around to visiting other Sunday Scribblers. Glad I stopped by here!
Wonderfully put, endings make beginnings possible and renewal cannot happen without some form of death.
ReplyDeletevery true!
