Rammed!------Sunday Scribblings

Sunday Scribblings asks us "What's your sign?"

The sign we are taking about here is astrological ones. Most people do believe in astrology.

How does one say that the sign affects them or that, they are ruled by it? How can the sun, the moon or the planets affect us from so far away? According to the astrologer they do! The whole branch of astrology would disintegrate if the soothsayers did not perpetuate those.

Most of my acquaintances do say that I am a typical Aries. Now what is a typical Aries? Aries is the first sign of the zodiac. Also known as the baby. Akin to a baby, they seldom think of the consequences and simply surge ahead, ramming hard, hurting own selves in the process. No wonder the Ram is their symbol.

What does being an Aries means to me? That is somewhat easy to answer. It means being straight forward, direct and forthright. I cannot beat around the bush ever. I am quick-tempered which subsides easily enough. I like new challenges. I thrive on those. I can make friends easily enough and stick to them, no matter come what may.

I can adapt to any situation. Adverse circumstances do not affect me for long. Material things are not as important as cultivating relationships.

I can take up an issue and follow it to the end if I am so inclined. I do need instant results due to my impatience. I might leave things half way through and start on a new venture. I constantly need to do new things or else I get bored easily enough.

Impulsiveness is one trait, which lets me down. I do not think much ahead and just plunge in, getting hurt in the process. Mind you, I do pick myself, brush up and get on with life. There is no other way for me.

I am always open to new ideas, new adventures, and new way of thinking. If I set my mind to it, no one can divert me from my purpose.

I describe here only a miniscule part of what I am. If it means that I am an Aries, I suppose I am. Cinquain, in a nutshell:

Aries
So courageous,
Accepting challenges
Quick-witted and quick-tempered
Ram hard!

As I mentioned some place else, I got bored describing myself and hence leaving it here!

However, I would like to add that more than signs (sun or moon or whatever), our genetics and surroundings play major rolls in shaping us.

  1. Hello, Michele sent me.

It's good to recognize who you are and what "makes you tick" and even better that you don't attribute that to astrology.

  2. I don't know many Aries, but I like those that I do know.

  3. As the famous Gemini Raymond Smullyan said (possibly paraphrased ever so slightly), "I don't believe in Astrology. I'm a Gemini and Geminis don't believe in astrology."

  4. I don't believe in astrology at all, probably because I'm a lame woman holding scales instead of a cool bull or fish or something else interesting.

  6. I am a Sagittarian because I am so 'Centaured'.

As a skeptical empirical rationalist I don't believe in Astrology, although it is unnerving and a freakish coincidence that Sagittarians are hung like a large multicellular equinic mammal!

I just found out that as a Sagittarian I am an intense, erotic, experimental, fetish prone, sexually liberated, satyr who enjoys outdoor sex.
    Woo Hoo!

My good points are that I am an optimistic, freedom-loving, jovial, good-humored, honest, straightforward, and philosophical Intellectual!

BUT my downside is that I am
    blindly optimistic, careless,
    irresponsible, superficial
    tactless, and restless.

  7. Hello, Michele sent me. Nice to meet you, fellow Aries! You sound EXACTLY like me -- do you think this means we'd get along or be bitter enemies?

I'd like to think get along, myself. Are you as terminally optimistic as I am? *grin*

  9. i am a believer in the astrological reading one gets after providing place and exact time of birth - but not so much the daily sun sign reading in the newspaper. I don't believe it is predictive as much as indicative and it is a useful tool for self exploration. Nice to "meet" you and hello from michele!

  10. Strange, I few minutes ago, I described the Aries part of my personality to an acquaintance!?:) I really enjoyed reading about you, astrologically speaking. I delve into astrology from time to time. What you say says a lot to me. I have Moon in Aries too. This is my connecting link with the energy of the Ram. Although a Libra, I can be impulsive too…!?:) Especially among friends… It's the part of me (the whole astrological profile) I would like to transcend…?:)

  11. Thanks for stopping by. I am Pisces - a dreamer, loving, emotional and find decision making difficult. My late brother was Aries and he was a honey.

  12. the interesting thing about astrology is that everyone seems to find some qualities that define their character in their zodiacal sign. i wonder how much is really true. as a pisces, i'm supposed to be prone to the occult and metaphysical matters...

  13. I'm a Capricorn. I don't put much stock in astrology. When people as me about my sign, I usually answer with some smart-A comment like, I'm a yield or stop sign. But maybe I'm becoming a capricorn, an old goat!

  16. I have two bum pals both arians. I guess we gemini's have the patience to stand only arians (of all the other signs) :-P We get along like bread and butter but have totally different school of thoughts. Basically, we agree to dis-agree! :)

    Thanks for stopping by!

  17. I love bongo mirror's comment!! :D

I'm a true Virgo in many ways, and in others not at all. I think my Meyers-Briggs INFP is much more accurate.

pi: Thanks. Sorry about yoir brother.

  20. The 11th house where my Moon in Aries resides, means friends. It's the area of life where I actively seek the feeling of being 'at home' - a family of sorts. It has also been a place of sudden fits of anger. The house where the Moon is located is a 'family of sorts for the man or woman concerned - it can be in any of the 12 houses - twelve areas of life.

  21. And I can only vaguely remember what the characteristics of my sign are...and now I found out from another SS post, which you probably read since you are such a faithful reader, that we have all actually changed signs or some such! I might look into my "new one..."

  22. This was an interesting read on astrology and your sign. I am a total believer, although I realize that at any given point a horoscope for anyone could apply to me. For the most part pisces always applies-also the tattoo would be a bit tacky if I didn't care.

  23. Gautami -

Interesting read... folks sure are fascinated by astrology... ;)

  24. Fascinating insight into your character! Not sure I put much stock in astrology, but it is interesting none-the-less.

  25. You sound like an Aquarius but then I sound like an Aries because your poem seem to apply to me also. I'm really not that quick-witted though.

    I like the lines:
    Quick-witted and quick-tempered

I love Aries - they go for it!
    Take care,

  28. Hi Gautami! I enjoyed reading this, and the photo of the ram is cute. Like you, I also agree that our sign isn't the only thing that shapes us. But it is interesting to see how much, or not, the typical features of our signs are reflected in us.
    :)

  29. I'm an Aquarian. Don't pay much attention to the stars unless they have good things to say about me!

    *smile*

I think your description left out creative and innovative.

  30. I am a fire sign too, and I see similarities in our traits. Put a helmet on Aries!

  31. I don't know many Aries but now I'll probably spot them by your description. Strong sign and I loved getting to see you relate yourself with Aries traits.

  33. What a great scribble! I love Aries. It sounds like you've really been able to identify your strengths and weaknesses - isn't astrology great!

    Thanks friends!
