crystal ball

The Moth and the Lamp, Cesar Santos
why are you peering inside
what secret stories you seek to find
I cradle the glass ball
my wings are folded
my shoes undone
this enclosed space is my exile
my tiredness will soon make me into a pile
how I ended up here
I do not have a clue
I do know I have this itch to dance
it is like a rash one continues to scratch
now I want the wall to withdraw its claws
I will rejuvenate in no time

I could have stayed home
munched on apples
with milk and bread
but that was not to be

"I am destined for bigger things-
that french window is my silent partner"

  6. I love the idea of the window reflecting her dance and thus being her partner. You allowed me to silently watch her do so.

  10. Wings are folded. For a moth, that IS the end.

But then, "I shall rejuvenate in no time" made all of us happy again. Good writing, well planned for short piece.

I like the ending where it opens up a hope for bigger things! It's great to have a finality at the ending! Nicely gautami!

  13. Gautami Ma'am,
I wonder if web-owner's moderation can be an alternative. You can conveniently sieve through and that would discourage spammers.
    Just a thought!
