vinyl dreams

Charlotte Gainsbourg, AnOther
lost in the vinyls
she looks out into her past
trapped in the circle of life
she does not not subscribe to sadness
everything can be said but it is never ever done
edges are always raw
one has to scale that
in the mist of the songs in her mind
chimes are curved, scattered and tattered
a mirror reflects the vast step she has taken
no one skirted the issues like she did
holding on to the last straw was never her agenda

vinyl is plastic, undead to environment
jumbled songs play out cheerily loud
bravo for it, bravo for it

  1. 679"She does not subscribe to sadness"... powerful words indeed! It is a choice, if we will let our life be filled with sadness and regret, or we will choose to live and laugh and love again.

  2. "in the mist of the songs in her mind
chimes are curved, scattered and tattered
a mirror reflects the vast step she has taken" so sad what goes unnoticed, the courage we each possess in a single moment.

Verification makes it really hard to comment, takes a few times sometimes. you'd probably get more comments if you turned it off.

  11. What nostalgia there is in piece. The sadness of times now lost.

  12. A poem written by a brave heart. I love the "songs in her mind, chimes are curved, scattered and tattered" the best too.

  14. Like what you did here with the words, Gautami. It reminds me of the shipment of old vinyls we just received from the states.

  20. The beauty of vinyl records..those scratchy tunes hold so many memories..."vinyl is plastic, undead to environment" I could so tike that one line and run with it. That is the beauty of great poetry!

  22. I miss the smell of buying a new record. I too like the last straw line and the havoc type feeling that this writing produces. There are things in life that ground us...weird sometimes what those things are. Great writing.

  25. I love the way the vinyl records play through this. it can be quite easy to skirt the edges, whether you do so consciously or not.

  26. So many references to roundness...the vinyls, the curved chime the center and skirting the edge...
love that about this...and also it returns me to my youth, days of vinyls and turntables and skipping records and dancing so hard you fall to the floor in a heap and laughing

  27. Nostalgic and thought provoking ..liked the way you penned it down..

  28. Gautami,

One does need to move on from past otherwise it hurts.

    Take care

  29. a mirror reflects the vast step she has taken

This all hit close to home with me. I get lost in songs sometimes.

And still, I felt sad for her.
